Bleep Video: Swear Word Censor
Detection
A swear word wasn't bleeped.
First look under Check these: words the recogniser wasn't sure about are listed there, switched off. Tap play to listen and switch it on. If it isn't listed at all, scrub to the spot and tap + Bleep here, then adjust the start and end. The double-check after export also flags words that can still be heard.
It bleeped a word that isn't swearing.
Switch it off in the list. If it keeps happening (a name, or “hell” in a sermon), add it to Settings → Word lists → Never bleep.
Strict, Standard or Custom?
Standard bleeps strong swearing and slurs. Strict also bleeps mild words like “damn”, “hell” and “crap”, plus sexual terms. Custom uses the lists you switch on in Settings. You can change it per video on the review screen.
The bleep cuts off part of the next word.
Tap the word and nudge its start or end in 10 or 50 ms steps. Play it with a second either side to check.
“We didn't hear any speech.”
Bleep Video understands English speech for now. Music-only clips and other languages have nothing it can bleep.
Devices
“This device can't run Bleep Video.”
On-device speech recognition needs iOS 26 on an iPhone 12 or newer, or an iPhone SE (3rd generation), with English available.
The first scan asks for a download.
That's Apple's English speech model. It downloads once, is shared with other apps, and lets everything run offline afterwards.
